Program Coordinator
Revised September 17, 2008
Preface
The Region III Regional Team Program has been patterned after the USA Gymnastics Junior National Team Program. The Regional Team Program ultimately exists for the specific purpose of enhancing Coaches Education, and Athlete Development. Its effect helps to facilitate Regional and National Team Membership with regard to coaches and athletes within Region III.
The Regional Team Program addresses many levels of coach’s education and athlete development. It has, as its main focus:
The identification of talented Coaches and Athletes.
The education of talented Coaches and Athletes through Camps, Clinics, and Workshops
Assist Athletes and Coaches with Regional and National abilities.
A Region III Regional Coaching Staff will be formed to help administer and communicate directives and technical material stemming from National Team Camps and the Junior National Coaching Staff with regard to Coaches Education, and Athlete Development.
The working relationship between the Regional Coaching Staff and the Regional / State Chairman’s Committee is similar to that of the Junior National Coaching Staff and Junior Olympic Program Committee. This however is conducted at a regional level.
In most cases the policies stated by the National Team Program have been adopted in this manual. Most policies are similar however there are some that relate specifically to Region III.
This Manual provides the Region III Coaching Staff and Coaching Community a working document that helps to communicate the Regional Team Program. It is refined each year and up-dated to reflect the needs and direction of Region III.
When answers regarding Coaches Education and Team Training Camp Policies are not presented here as part of the Regional Team Program, the reader must please refer to the National Team Program for possible solutions.

IV: Region III Future Stars Preparation Camp and Coaches Workshop |
Region
III Clinic
This Camp is open to boy’s Level 7 and higher. This event has was organized and ran by Steve Glickley and the Regional Team Director will work closely with the coordination of this clinic with him in regards to assigning clinicians and coaching staff members.
Region
III Future Stars Evaluation
This is an educational opportunity for both coaches and athletes with regard to the Future Stars Program. We have never added a clinic with the evaluation due to the TGJA giving the NGJA course in conjunction with this event. If this relationship does not continue I propose we have a few short clinics for athletes, coaches and parents regarding preparation and expectations at the National Evaluation including the following items:
1. Parent Education
2. Coaches Education
3. Athlete Development
4. National
Future Stars Preparation

VI: Region III Championships |
A.
See Rules and Policies – USA Gymnastics Online
B. Pre-Qualified JO National
Championships Regional Team Selection
In the event that an athlete is selected to compete for USA Gymnastics in either a Domestic or International Competition during the Regional Championships, Region III has elected to pre-qualify this individual to the Regional Team prior to the Regional Championships. This would include a period of 3 weeks before and/or after the assigned USA Gymnastics Competition, due to travel and training obligations. During this time period the Athlete may elect to compete in the Regional Championships at no risk to his pre-qualified ranked position.
The pre-selected athlete would be named to the Regional Team
prior to the Regional Championships and only the remaining spots would be
available at the Regional Championships.
The Regional Chairman will only consider an athlete that has been
assigned to competition by USA Gymnastics or the Men’s Program Committee.
The Coach must make his request to the Regional Chairman in writing prior to the Regional Championships.
This policy is specifically intended for reasons of gymnastics competition. No other considerations will be made. For example: Weddings, Religious Holiday, Vacation, College Visitation, College Entrance Exams, Family Death, etc.
