Description

Routine Description Specified Bonus Performance Criteria
1. On the pommels, jump to 2 or 3 straddle support swings   Start from stand with legs together
2. Cut left leg forward to stride support swing   For the entire exercise, on all leg cuts, the cutting leg should be at a minimum of horizontal
3. Cut left leg backward,    
4. Cut right leg forward to stride support swing    
5. Cut right leg backward,    
6. Cut left leg forward to stride support swing Release and re-grasp the pommel on each stride support swing - Both sides must be lifted to receive bonus.  
7. Cut left leg backward    
8. Cut right leg forward finishing in stride support    
9. Cut left leg forward and right leg forward to dismount, landing with back to horse.   Regrasp the pommel during dismount is allowed.

LEVEL 4 (CLASS VII) MUSHROOM BONUS This routines is not required unless trying for the .2 Specified bonus.

2 & ½ Mushroom circles & ¼ turn dismount   Automatic .2 Bonus will be awarded if there are NO LARGE DEDUCTIONS ON ANY OF THE SKILLS.

No Stick Bonus will be awarded on this routine.

This event will be performed and evaluated on two separate apparatus. The apparatus may be performed in either order:
1. The mushroom - divided into quadrants
2. The standard pommel horse.

Note: The routine is written for clockwise circles. The routine may be reversed in its entirety.

LEVEL 5 (CLASS VI) MUSHROOM

Routine Description Specified Bonus Performance Criteria
1. Step to side and jump to one double leg circle,    The body should show a stretched position throughout the exercise
2. One double leg circle,    
3. Circle with 90 counter turn left to front support,   Note: Counter turn should be initiated with support on the right hand  
4. Circle with 90 counter turn left to front support,   Note: Counter turn should be initiated with support on the right hand
5. One double leg circle - From front support in #4, one double leg circle, flair circle, double leg circle  
6. Half double leg circle with 90 turn right to dismount. (Flank dismount)    

 

LEVEL 5 (CLASS VI) POMMEL HORSE

Note: The routine may be reversed in its entirety.

Routine Description Specified Bonus Performance Criteria
1. Facing horse with one hand on the end and one hand on the pommel   From stand with legs together
2. Jump to support while cutting left leg forward,   On all leg cuts the cutting leg should be at horizontal.
3. Single leg travel up to the pommels finishing in a front support,   On all stride support swings and false scissors the top leg should be at horizontal.
4. Cut left leg forward to right false scissor,    
5. Cut left leg forward to stride swing, cut left leg backward,    
6. Cut right leg forward to right false circle,    
7. Cut right leg forward to stride swing, cut right leg backward,    
8. Cut left forward, cut right leg forward to join legs together in front to stand facing away from the horse. From #7:  Instead of a stride swing, complete a full right scissor, then cut right leg forward to join legs together in front to stand facing away from the horse. On scissor the top leg should be at least horizontal

Routine Description Specified Bonus Performance Criteria
1. Facing the end of the horse, loop circle, (the gymnast’s feet must be together when they leave the floor.)   Body extended throughout loop
2. One loop circle to ¾ loop to rear support with left hand on the pommel - The addition of one loop  Body extended throughout loops
3. Right leg cut backward, left leg cut backward,   On all leg cuts, the cutting leg should be at least horizontal.
4. Right leg cut forward, single leg travel to front support on the pommels,    
5. Cut right leg forward to left front false scissor,   On all false scissors and scissors the top leg should be at least horizontal.
6. Cut right leg forward to left scissor,    
7. Right front false scissor,    
8. Cut left leg forward to right scissor,    
9. Cut left leg forward, cut right leg back, cut left leg back,    
10. Bring right leg around to feint to a 1/2 circle to the left over the pommel with 1/4 counter turn landing facing left.

FIRST SECTION OF POMMEL ROUTINE
