            Class 6/7 State: 518 competitors second time over 500

                        Growth in class 6 age 9 and Class 7

            Class 5-E  second largest meet ever

 

            Class 6/7 Meet will require format changes to deal with growth

 

Class 5-E Spectators for Cl1 Sessions do not have to pay if in another session or there just for Awards Ceremony. Meet Director must handle arrangements for this procedure.

 

Senior Award applicants must have it in by Groundhog Day

 

Regional Future Stars at ASI, Dallas            October 21-22 Saturday Morning Competition

National Judges Course will be held in conjunction with Future Stars

            Saturday, 1PM-8PM

 

2001Region III Championships-Incarnate Word University-Alamo Gymnastics

 

Regional Update-Gil Elsass

            Gil elected as National Chair of USAG Jr. Olympic Program Committee

            Region III is now the established power in Jr. Program in country

            Class 3 and Class1 Teams won Jr. Nationals Class 2 placed 2nd

Region 3 Clinic at Texas Sports Ranch-October 7th, 2000

Gil has fears about splitting the clinic and the Future Stars evaluation

Gil is the host and source of info for both the Clinic and Future Stars Evaluation

2001 Jr. Nationals-Minneapolis, Minnesota. Nasty rumors that meet will run Thursday thru Sunday are true!

Qualifying Scores for Regionals will be set at end of January. There will probably be changes in Class 5/4. National Scores will also be set in late January.

Gil chairs the Jr. Nationals Competition Committee. Format for Nationals is still being debated. Send input to Gil. Decision to be made at Congress in Boston.

           

Meet Hosts will be sent a letter for inclusion in the meet program by Kevin Muenz. This will be a periodic State Newsletter.

            1. Rule on Proxy voting at Summer Meeting.

                        Background on establishment of Summer Meeting and voting procedures

            Discussion: Centered on the desire to have people attend the meeting. Need for attendance to understand issues. Possibly limiting number of proxies for a voting member.

VIII. New Business

 

            Bill Foster- For Open Optionals Judges be directed to award additional special Bonus .1 for C parts, Code value for Developmental D’s, and .2 for D or E parts included in the exercise for all recognized skills.  Should the Regional Board fail to endorse this policy we will revert to the USAG Jr. Olympic Program Rules and Policies. Sherman wants the word “mitigation” eliminated from proposal.

                        Erwin wants Bonus increased for , D, E parts.

Bo Morris- Extends a call for stories and archival material related to Michael Sims for use in future Sims State Meets.

 

Gil Elsass encourages updating meet information, dates, etc. with him  during the year. He reminded coaches that for $25, meets can be listed on the Regional Web page.
