1. State of the State

• Texas is one of the, if not THE largest program in the country
• Class 6 & 7 State Championships Review (Scott Crouse)

Due to Large numbers (489) we had to move to a Friday session. Nascar took up a lot of hotels

We need an accurate State mailing list. You need to fill out the entry form correctly. Coaches must register the athlete correctly. Put his age group where it says age group NOT his age. There were too many changes due to coaches not filling out the entry form correctly.

• Class 5 – Elite (Tim Erwin)

Grand March In was a fantastic success, the Senior Awards were also a huge success. There was a small problem with Saturday morning session due to confussion of session start times. Coaches and judges handled it wonderfully. Tim recommends going to a regular comp. Format. Warm-up/Compete may keep spectators and gymnasts there too long

1. State Updates

• Senior Awards will be given to graduating seniors. You must submit you applications no later than Feb. 2^nd (Ground hog day)
• Grand March In. Huge success. It will be recommended for State and Regional championships
• Judges selection- List of 15 to 20 names of judges will be submitted to the committee for approval. All Coaches will have an opportunity to state their opinion. All opinions and votes will be kept confidential
• Texas Rules and Policy book will be reorganized
• Mandate Scores- Due to liability issue their will be no mandate scores
• Awards at state- all around awards will be rounded to a recognizable
• Class 7 and socks- Socks are not required to wear socks (question Aaron Samano – Was this an issue?)

Yes. Therefore socks are not allowed

• Entry fees to JO Nationals – The State Chairman has decided to pay $30

• Judges fee structure- Committee must be informed. Letter was sent to TGJA asking to resubmit

• Small problems kept arrising
• Coaches need to keep control of their gymnasts and parents
• Parents should not approach, or call the meet director at any meet
• "Riot at the Hyatt" was handled brilliantly by Scott Crouse.

• Thanks to Texas judges for all their help and cooperation.

1. Regional and National Review

• Host hotels will be Double Tree and Red Line
• Gym will be Pflugerville High School
• There will be duplicate sets of floor
• Regional Championships will follow the Regional format
• Nationals will be held at the Austin Convention Center – Theatre seating 21,000 square feet for warm ups
• Buffet tickets will be available for Friday night at extra charge
• Host hotel For National will be the Marriott, Omni, and Hyatt
• National Golf tournament to be held by Tim Erwin
• Meet will be ready to go at noon on Wednesday for warm- up
• Question (Nolan Hyman) If we receive our info for Reg. And Nationals can we send in our entry forms via internet? No, forms go to State or Regional Chairman. But really something to think about

• Qualifying score for Class 5 has been lowered to 43.0

• National Gymnastics Day – July 31^st
• Dress code same but no t-shirt, collared shirts only please (we should look professional)

If we require the judges, and gymnasts to dress professional the coaches should dress accordingly

• Regional mailing list must be accurate. Please mail Gil changes in addresses etc…

1. Sims Scholarship Report(Brian Kyser)

• Approximately 32,000
• Discussion this year on future of account, possibly investing. At this time we are not able to due to the scholarship being under USA Gymnastics tax number
• We would like it to become it’s own entity. Companies such as Merryl Lynch is willing to help us
• The Stockbroker will charge to manage account. At the end of the year that broker will donate what he charged for the year which Merryl Lynch match

Question: (Marc Yancy) What exactly will the relationship be between the "foundation" and the coaches.

Recommendation: (Mark Sherman and Scott Crouse) Hold on to this until there is a definite plan presented

 State Account

We all mourned the death of Art Elsas, brother to Gil Elsas. The State committee felt obligated to donate an amount of $500 wich will be matched by Gil Elsas. Additional donations will be accepted.

FIG has new web site. Write the executive committee

2. T.G.J.A. Judging Rates (Mark Sherman)

Discussion: Fees were changed in the middle of the year without consulting the committee

• Down time – Should be paid for judges having to wait
• Texas judges some of the best judges- because of the coaches
• We are not trying to gouge anyone but we need to be treated fairly

Discuss

• Start times – posted or when officials are required to be at their events until the last judge has finished. Assigning judge will dictate when judges need to be at the gym but do not decide when they need to be at their first events.

Recommedation: (Tim Erwin) Keep the same fee structure but add half hour to the down time (from 1 & ½ to 2 hours)

Recommedation: (Kevin Muenz) Raise the fee structure $10 and eliminate down time.
